Evil Empire Set to Bring Spud-Packing Punches to 10 Million-Strong Brotato Across PC, Consoles & Mobile – Teases October Content Update With New Mob: The Gobbler
Evil Empire, the developer of Rogue Prince of Persia and Dead Cells DLCs, has revealed today that they have taken over development of Brotato, the multi-million selling game for PC, consoles and mobile, under the watchful eyes of original developer Blobfish Games who will now fully focus on making brand-new games.
To mark the occasion, the Evil Empire team released a taste of what new and old bros can expect when Brotato gets its first full update next month - a new mob, The Gobbler.
Evil Empire is best known for its unnervingly long, strong and steady hand bringing years of content to fans for the GOTY hit Dead Cells from Motion Twin, culminating in the Return to Castlevania DLC. The Evil Empire team, founded by ex-Motion Twin developers, was originally created for this specific type of game development work - to support and work with energized, enthusiastic communities of games to bring fresh and inspired content to the games we all love.
Thomas Gervraud, Blobfish CEO and founder, said, “I'm excited to see how the game evolves under the direction of such a talented team and what fresh perspectives they'll bring to the table. Above all, though, I’m just eager to dive back in and have fun playing Brotato again.”
Brotato launched in 2023 and since then the top-down arena shooting roguelike has spawned more than 10 million+ players around the world across PC, console and mobile platforms. Already a robust title for solo or co-op players, Evil Empire is joining in to keep baking Brotato, adding the ever-necessary topping of fire updates packed with new content and even more roguelike goodness. Experienced shepherds of roguelikes that they are, Evil Empire’s additions to Brotato won’t be thrown on willy-nilly (much like tuna on a baked potato, because who even does that).
Following their stewardship of the Dead Cells brand over four years, Evil Empire most recently developed The Rogue Prince of Persia (80 Metacritic | 1600+ Very Positive Reviews on Steam) which launched out of Early Access after a short 15 months to critical acclaim.
