PIGGY GAMES (Interview)

 


1. WHAT WAS THE FIRST GAME THAT YOU PLAYED THAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH
GAMING? - It was Warcraft 2 from the Blizzard company

2. HOW DID YOU GET INTO GAME DEVELOPMENT? - It happened almost by chance. I had the idea of creating a game and decided to try to implement it. At first I chose an engine and tried to work on it myself, then I realized that if I want to complete this project, I need to cooperate and find people who will help me. Right now our team consists of 2 developers, 2 designers, one PM/QA, also me and the cat.

3. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NAME PIGGY GAMES? - well, our first game is about pigs after all:), but in general we consider pigs to be cute and intelligent animals.

4. WHAT GAMES DID YOU CREATE OUTSIDE OF THE ONE YOU ARE WORKING ON NOW? - None, this is our first project, but we hope it will be successful and we will expand our product line in the future.




5. TELL US ABOUT THE NAME HOGLANDS AND THE CONCEPT BEHIND THE NAME OF THE GAME? - Due to the fact that the characters of our game are mainly pigs, we wanted the title of our game to feel thematic. That's how the name Hoglands appeared.

6. WHAT ENGINE ARE YOU USING FOR THIS GAME AND WHY? - We chose Unity because it is one of the most popular engines and has a lot of ready-made assets

7. GIVE US THE BREAKDOWN OF THE SETTING FOR HOGLANDS? - The plot has not yet been completed, but we can already say that the events will develop in the medieval era in the kingdom of pigs. We will have magic, but it will not play any main plot or gameplay role. The main acting characters will be pigs and mutated dead pigs.

8. WHO IS THE PROTAGONIST IN HOGLANDS? - At first we wanted to make protagonist a prince of the Pig Kingdom, but we decided that it would be too simple. Therefore, we currently have a tattooed pig with a mustache and a mace. We will ask our discord community to choose his name, and at the moment we are thinking between two rather rare Eastern European names Bohdan or Kastus.




9. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU CAN EITHER DO GOOD OR EVIL WITHIN THIS GAME SO TELL US ABOUT THAT? - Our plot will be a little gloomy, but we will add a bit of dark humor to lighten up the mood. Regarding the choice between good and evil, we are currently not sure that we will have enough content to add variety at the time of release. But we have plans for DLC where you will play on the side of evil.

10. TELL US ABOUT THE ENEMIES YOU CAN FIGHT IN THE GAME? - Currently we have about ten types of enemies and a threatening environment. Basically, these will be zombie pigs of various sizes and attack types, long-range mutant spiders, flying kamikaze spiders, minibosses in the form of vampires that can only be killed with special units or items, etc.

11. WHAT TYPES OF STUFF YOU CAN ADD TO THE BASE OF THE GAME? - If you mean what kind of buildings we will have, then they will be divided into economic ones and those that will allow us to train more experienced soldiers and build a more powerful defense, or conduct researches that will help us defend more efficiently.

12. WHAT TYPES OF CRAFTING YOU CAN DO IN THE GAME ALONG WITH WEAPONS? - There will be no crafting as such, but we will try to make game mechanics in which you will need certain things to move to certain locations with more powerful weapons and resources. This, for example, can be explosives to clear a blockage, a gas mask in order not to die from poison, a stake to kill a vampire, etc.




13. TELL US ABOUT THE TYPE OF ARMY YOU CAN BUILD IN THE GAME? - Currently the army will be divided into 3 types of units, ranged combat, close combat and special units to fight against certain types of powerful enemies or with large masses of them. This is, for example, a monk with a stake and a flamethrower.

14. WHAT AREAS CAN YOU EXPLORE IN THIS GAME? - Currently in our plans are such locations as a forest, a dead forest, various crypts and dungeons, the castle of Count Hryakula, which will have to be sieged with the help of siege equipment.


15. WILL THERE BE ANY DLC IN THE FUTURE IN THIS GAME? - For now we plan to make a DLC that will allow us to play for the opposite side

16. WHY SHOULD PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME DAY ONE? - it will be a survival, side-scroll strategy game, this game should appeal to fans of the mechanics of such games as Kingdom: two crowns and the visual style of Tails of iron and Creepy Tale.



17. WHEN WILL HOGLANDS RELEASE AND WHAT PLATFORMS WILL IT BE ON? - we plan to release the game at the end of this year on PC and Nintendo Switch, but the list of platforms will increase closer to the release date.
