FROZEN SOIL: INTERVIEW

 1. WHAT WAS THE FIRST GAME THAT YOU'VE PLAYED THAT MADE YOU FALL IN

LOVE WITH GAMING?

-Game & Watch: Octopus.

2. WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO GET INTO GAME DEVELOPMENT?

-Had been playing video games for over 30 years. So I just want to try to make a cozy game in my spare time.

3. ARE YOU A SOLO DEV OR DO YOU OWN YOUR OWN STUDIO?

-I am a solo dev.

4. WHAT GAMES DID YOU WORK ON BEFORE FROZEN SOIL?

-Technically, this is my first game.

5. WHAT ENGINE ARE YOU USING FOR THIS GAME AND WHY?

-RPG MAKER MV.

-Since I work full-time and have a family, I don't have much free time left. So, I put

off learning how to code for now and chose RPG Maker, which is easy for

beginners to use. Originally, my profession was related to drawing, and RPGM was a

great fit for that.

6. WHERE DOES FROZEN SOIL TAKES PLACE TO GIVE US THE BACKSTORY?

-In the near future, an alien race called the Vidons took over our solar system. Their

technology was much more advanced than ours, so it was easy for them to take

over the Earth. Not only that, but they also stole the heat from our sun, which led to

the Ice Age.

Although they were later expelled by the Galactic Alliance of Ferra, the Earth

could never be restored to its original state. Those who survived also began to

emigrate to the distant universe with the approval of the Galactic Alliance of Ferra.

The game started 300 years later, when the protagonist and his companions, who

were members of the mercenary group, came to Earth for a mission. As a result,

they discovered the real purpose of Vidons stealing solar heat energy.(This part will not include in the demo.)

7. WHO IS THE MAIN PROTAGONIST IN THE GAME?

-A silent protagonist named Victor. The player has the option of changing his name.

Personally, I prefer a silent protagonist because I think it's easier for players to

immerse themselves in the game world.

8. WHAT TYPE OF RPG GAME IS THIS? DOES IT FEEL MORE OLD-SCHOOL OR

MODERN?

-It’s the more old school type. I like games where you can collect a lot of

companions, like the Radiata Stories and Suikoden series, so I've given this game a

lot of recruitable characters. The game's main story is not long, the fun part is

about exploring and to find these characters who can join as companions.

9. HOW IS THE RANK-UP SYSTEM IN THE GAME AND HOW ARE YOU UTILIZING THE

BATTLING SYSTEM?

-The game’s rank-up system is simple. It's the traditional way to gain experience

after beating an enemy and then level up.

-Combat is also a normal turn-based system without Active Time Battle (ATB).

-However, skills are not acquired through level up. Most skills are tied to

equipment.

-Example: If the protagonist's vehicle is equipped with a vulcan, he can use Vulcan Shoot, but the skill can't be used after unequipping it.

-There are some characters, like Yarunna, who is a giant yeti alien.

She can learn new fighting skills from comics, movies, and games that the player finds in the

adventures.

-Most skills also need to consume specific items to work, such as ammunition, repair kit, first aid kit, meat and so on.

-There are also two types of combatants. 1-Machines and Vehicles; 2-Biology.

-Some skills, like Repair, can only be used by Machine-type companions or Vehicles, and First￾Aid can only be used by Biology-type companions.

10. WHAT TYPE OF BOSS BATTLES SHOULD WE ASPECT IN THE GAME?

-Some bosses would be much easier to beat if certain conditions is met.

-Like one of the hidden bosses, Krause (a legendary monster in Southeast Asia), if

you have found and equip with a weapon called Aloe Vera, your attack can do 10 times more

damage.

11. WHY SHOULD WE WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME?

-If you like more traditional RPGs with alien settings, post-apocalyptic, exploration, and a

lot of different companions, you could try Frozen Soil, which might surprise you.

-Also, there is a certain level/amount of “fan service(sfw)” so please keep it out of

the reach of children.

12. WHEN WILL THIS GAME BE RELEASED AND WHAT PLATFORM WILL IT BE ON?

-The free trial version is currently 80–90% done. I'm hoping it will be out around

November 2022. The platforms should only be PC and Mac.

-The final version hasn't been decided yet.

13. WHERE CAN THEY FIND YOU ON SOCIAL MEDIA?

-Right now, I am more active in twitter.com/fungolem.
