Marvel’s Wolverine reportedly sold approximately 1.9 million copies during its first three days, generating an estimated $130 million in revenue, according to market research firm Alinea Analytics.
The figures are estimates rather than officially confirmed sales numbers from Sony or Insomniac Games, but they suggest the PlayStation 5 exclusive has gotten off to a substantial commercial start.
Wolverine Reportedly Generated $130 Million
According to Alinea Analytics, roughly 1 million copies were sold through digital pre-orders before launch. Physical releases reportedly accounted for 22.9% of the game's estimated $130 million revenue.
That would put Wolverine below the launch performance of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but the reported numbers still place it ahead of several other recent PlayStation releases tracked by the firm.
Alinea's estimates reportedly put Death Stranding 2: On the Beach at around $129 million in lifetime PS5 revenue, while Saros is estimated at approximately 510,000 sales. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, including PC sales, is estimated at roughly 740,000 copies.
Spider-Man Players Make Up a Huge Portion of Wolverine's Audience
The data also points toward significant crossover between Wolverine and previous superhero games.
An estimated 82% of Wolverine players previously played Marvel's Spider-Man, while 70% played Spider-Man 2 and 67% played Miles Morales.
There are also reported connections to games outside Insomniac's Marvel series. Approximately 45% of Wolverine players reportedly played Batman: Arkham Knight, while 43% reportedly played Marvel Rivals.
Can Wolverine Maintain Its Momentum?
The bigger question will be whether Marvel's Wolverine can maintain its sales momentum beyond launch.
Sony has positioned the game as one of its major first-party releases for the fiscal year, meaning its long-term performance will be important. Strong opening sales provide an encouraging starting point, but continued sales over the coming months will ultimately determine how successful the game becomes commercially.
For now, the reported 1.9 million sales figure should be treated as an industry estimate, not an official sales announcement.
