Q: What made you decide to create A Long Survive, and why focus on defending the nexus?
A: We’ve always loved the world of VR. We wanted to be part of it from the very first day we tried a virtual reality headset. That, combined with the fact that we’re big fans of Gears of War, made us think… what would a wave-based game feel like in VR? And that’s how A Long Survive was born.
Q: How do teamwork and strategy play a role in surviving the waves?
A: Teamwork is essential. Without it, you’ll have a really hard time. Enemies come from all directions, and if you turn your back on a group, you’re done. Plus, when you’re protecting the Crystal Collector on the other side of the map, you’ll definitely wish you had someone with you.
Q: What kinds of structures can players build to hold back enemies, and are there any fan-favorite options?
A: Players can build barriers and turrets, and we’ve got plenty of ideas to expand that system. Turrets are the fan favorites, but personally, mines are my go-to.
Q: How do weapon upgrades work, and what’s the most exciting upgrade you’ve seen players use?
A: A key part of the game is choosing your combat style. Weapons vary in fire rate, recoil, and magazine size. Once you earn enough money, you’ll want to build a Weapon Forge. That’s where things really open up—energy weapons, shotguns, fast SMGs, or powerful rifles. You can even save up for Tier 2 weapons, and that choice can define your entire run.
Q: How challenging are the enemy waves—will players need to constantly adapt their tactics?
A: With the latest update, the waves are even more intense. We’ve increased enemy numbers and carefully balanced everything to make it overwhelming—but still satisfying. Since you never know where enemies will come from, adapting your strategy is key. Otherwise… you won’t last long.
Q: Can you survive alone, or is the game really better with friends?
A: You can play solo, but it’s significantly harder. You can activate BOTs for support, and they’re helpful early on. However, as the game progresses, strategy becomes much more important than their assistance. It’s always better with friends—solo play is a true challenge.
Q: Do different levels or environments change how players need to defend the nexus?
A: Absolutely. Every map is different, and even areas within a map can change your approach. Where you place the Nexus affects everything—enemy paths, Crystal Collector locations, and how you position your defenses. Each setup creates a new challenge.
Q: What keeps players coming back after finishing the game once?
A: No two matches feel the same. Moving the Nexus alone can completely change how a match plays out. On top of that, different characters, strategies, difficulties, maps, and modifiers all add variety and replayability.
Q: Are there any special features or surprises that make A Long Survive stand out from other shooters?
A: At its core, it’s a horde-based shooter—we didn’t reinvent the wheel. What we did was bring that experience fully into VR. Defending your position, managing resources, and surviving waves of enemies isn’t new, but doing it in VR makes it feel completely different.
Q: How important is teamwork in VR, and what tips do you have for coordinating with friends?
A: Communication is everything. Deciding where to build, how to spend credits, and who defends each lane all requires coordination. And yes, arguing over who spent all the team’s money on a high-tier shotgun can be funny… but also deadly.
Q: Can players expect new content like enemies, weapons, or events after launch?
A: Definitely. We have hundreds of ideas we want to explore. We’ll also be working closely with the community to decide what gets added in future updates.
Q: What makes playing in VR on SteamVR or PSVR2 unique compared to a regular screen?
A: Everything—from immersion to physical interaction. It’s not the same to move a joystick as it is to physically turn your body. Seeing enemies rush toward you in VR creates a completely different level of intensity. They really are two different worlds.
Q: When is the release date, and on which platforms will the game be available?
A: A Long Survive launches on May 14 for PSVR2 and SteamVR. On the same day, a major update with new content will also release on Meta Quest, where the game is already available.
