HideWorks Games (Interview)
Today we are interviewing HideWorks Games as we talk about their upbring in gaming, the studio, and their upcoming game Liminal Point.
1. WHAT WAS THE FIRST GAME THAT YOU PLAYED THAT MADE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH GAMING AND GET INTO GAME DEVELOPMENT?
LordZero: WarCraft2 & Theme Park
LadyZero: The Sims3 made me fall in love with gaming. I've always been a gamer, but it was LordZero that inspired me to get into game development.
2. WHAT GAME DEVELOPER INSPIRED YOU TO WANT TO START MAKING GAMES AND WHY?
LordZero: Blizzard, Hideo Kojima, Squaresoft(Back in the day). As for why, I love playing games but I also love building things that others can play with.
LadyZero: LordZero, and David Wehle.
3. WHERE WAS THE INSPIRATION IN COMING UP WITH THE NAME AND CONCEPT OF HIDEWORKS GAMES?
We were trying to find something catchy, memorable, easy to say and that felt Horror related. After a long time and many many ideas, we finally settled with HideWorks.
4. WHAT WAS THE FIRST GAME THAT YOU EVER MADE FROM YOUR STUDIO?
It's called "The Devil is in the Details"! It's an anomaly-detection x survival-horror x escape room game hybrid inside of a twisted hell gameshow. Thematically is similar to Evil Dead/Army of Darkness. Scary and spooky but with lots of comedy, mixed with gameshows such as who wants to be a Millionaire.
It has a rating of 98% on Steam, and 97% on PlayStation Store, so we're pretty happy with the final result and that people regard it like such a high quality game. It's available on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series.
5. LET'S TALK ABOUT LIMINAL POINT SO TELL US WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NAME?
A lot of people think it's related with Liminal Spaces(or also backrooms), since it's a hot topic lately, but this is not the case with our game. Liminal Point in our case refers to a psychological and emotional threshold, a moment of inner transition for Lyra(our main character). A personal, internal turning point. The title reflects that she's caught between her past and present, between guilt and denial, reality and trauma.
The island she returns to is the place where her life fell apart, and it becomes the symbolic 'point' where she’s forced to confront everything she’s buried. So the title speaks to that boundary, that liminal moment , where she has to either face the truth or be consumed by it.6. GIVE US A BACK STORY BEHIND THE SETTING OF THE GAME?
The story is set on Ashen Point City, located on the abandoned island with the same name, emptied after a disaster forced its people to evacuate. Years later, Lyra and her old bandmates receive a voicemail from Mira(their former lead vocalist) calling them back. Mira vanished the night of their debut with no note, no explanation, and when she disappeared, so did their future. The band broke apart and everyone’s life came to a halt. The band has returned to the place where their dreams turn to ash and they are looking for answers, so they can finally move on with their lives. But the island isn’t the place they remember. It is said that only the desperate or the mad return and that something truly dangerous now inhabits the city.
7. WHO IS THE PROTAGONIST AND WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE CHARACTER?
The protagonist is Lyra Sterling, a former rockstar who lost everything on the night her band was supposed to have their big debut. Before that, she was a bit of a problem child, rebellious against authority, but always with a strong maternal side to the people she cares about. Although she dresses and acts like a badass, she has a very real emotional and fragile side and she is also surprisingly gentle and sweet. There is no single inspiration behind Lyra as there's several women she's been inspired by, and then tweaked in terms of appearance and personality to fit the story, gameplay and visuals. But if I had to give a single source of inspiration I'd go with Kate from Lost Tv Show.
8. SO WE SEE IT GIVES IT RESIDENT EVIL 2 VIBES SO TELL US WHAT AREAS CAN YOU EXPLORE IN THE GAME?
10. WILL THERE BE ANY BOSS BATTLES IN THE GAME AND IF SO TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE BOSSES AND ENEMIES IN THE GAME?
11. ARE THE PLANS OF ADDING ANYTHING IN THE ONLINE SPACE FOR THE FUTURE AND IF SO WHAT WILL BE IN THE CARDS FOR THE MULTIPLAYER SIDE?
12. THE BILLION DOLLAR QUESTION. WHY SHOULD ANYONE WANT TO PLAY LIMINAL POINT ON DAY ONE?
You'll be exploring the abandoned city of Ashen Point(located in the island with the same name), in several different locations, such as the Docks, downtown, Langston's mansion, the sewers, the hospital, and more.
9. WHAT WEAPONS DO HAVE IN THE GAME?
Lyra will have a variety of melee and ranged weapons. Pistol, shotgun, a hunting rifle, assault rifle, a high caliber handgun, an axe, and some other ones we're playing with, including some crazier ones that you unlock after finishing the game.
10. WILL THERE BE ANY BOSS BATTLES IN THE GAME AND IF SO TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE BOSSES AND ENEMIES IN THE GAME?
Yes, there will be a few boss battles in the game, and we're hoping they can be quite memorable and intense. You can see one of them in our trailers, the "TV-Monster", for example.
As for other enemies, we are hoping to have between 7 and 10 different types, each one being unique in their own behaviours and abilities.
11. ARE THE PLANS OF ADDING ANYTHING IN THE ONLINE SPACE FOR THE FUTURE AND IF SO WHAT WILL BE IN THE CARDS FOR THE MULTIPLAYER SIDE?
No Plans for either. Our game is a single player game.
12. THE BILLION DOLLAR QUESTION. WHY SHOULD ANYONE WANT TO PLAY LIMINAL POINT ON DAY ONE?
If you want to play a survival horror that merges the gameplay of resident evil with a more psychological dark story like Silent Hill 2 and play from a different camera perspective that still embodies the spirit of the classic survival horrors of the past but with modern mechanics, and with themes, aesthetics, and stylish protagonist that are reminiscent of the 90's, this game is definitely for you.
13. WHEN WILL LIMINAL POINT RELEASE AND WHAT PLATFORMS WILL IT BE ON?

Liminal Point will be released at some point in the second quarter of 2026, and it'll be on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Epic Games Store and GOG.
