Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold Reveals Zephyr Job and February 2027 Release Date

Square Enix has revealed more details about the next major chapter of Final Fantasy XIV Online, officially announcing that its upcoming expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, will launch on February 23, 2027. The announcement was made during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo, where players also received a closer look at a new job joining the expansion and news of a major milestone for the MMORPG.

Alongside the release date, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV Online has surpassed 35 million registered accounts worldwide. The milestone highlights the game's continued reach as the development team prepares to take players into its next expansion.

One of the biggest reveals from the event was Zephyr, the second of two new jobs planned for Evercold. Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida introduced the job, which will fill the physical ranged DPS role. Zephyr uses a crossbow to attack enemies and is accompanied by an avian familiar named Nephele.

Evercold Pre-Orders and Collector's Edition Details

Pre-orders for Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold and its Collector's Box will begin on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Square Enix is also offering a limited Collector's Bundle exclusively through the Square Enix Store. This package combines the physical Collector's Box with a digital Collector's Edition code for Windows and Mac.

Players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam will be able to purchase the Collector's Box separately and pre-order the digital Collector's Edition through their respective platforms.

The physical Collector's Box is designed for collectors and longtime fans, featuring several themed items inspired by the expansion. Its contents include a special art box featuring an illustration by Yoshitaka Amano, a crafted Reaper figure depicting the Warrior of Light as a reaper, an Ethos metal keychain, a Köttr mini plush, and the Tapestry of the Fourth.

Square Enix has also clarified that the physical Collector's Box does not include a copy of Evercold. It also does not contain the expansion's in-game items or pre-order bonuses, so players will need to purchase the game separately.

With a confirmed February release date, a new job reveal, and pre-orders approaching, Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold is beginning to take shape ahead of its launch next year. More details are expected as Square Enix continues its rollout of information surrounding the expansion.
